Hi,
I found mushrooms growing between the tiles of my shower (!)
and am trying to find out what to do to prevent it from happening again.
My landlord does not know what to do so I thought of asking for help in this forum. Many thanks in advance!

What type are they? Hopefully Morells. Not sure how to stop them growing, but if you pick 'em out and put them in a hot pan with melted butter........mmmmmm:drool5:

If magic ones then just remove and eat!

being serious try something like HG Mouldspray

You're lucky......I put a shower in once a long time ago - used a 80mmx80mm shower tray - I had to change it though cos there wasn't mushroom inside for showering .......

Sorry - to be serious - I am not certain about mushrooms - first I would be investigating if the problem were more serious - is there a funny smell etc etc.

I had problems with mould in my shower a while ago. I scrubbed it with a scrubbing brush and neat bleach a couple of times a week for 2 weeks and it disappeared never to return. I have used the same method on fungus on a flag stone floor before as well.

You do need to find out if there is an underlying cause like wet rot or the like. (Unlikely to be dry rot in a shower)

With Ajax, sounds like there could be an undyling problem, water ingressing past the tiles. Does the room have any ventilation

How long have you left the cleaning to allow mushrooms to grow...???

it isn't really a problem until you find a leprechauns sitting on them, you want to try and get rid of those little buggers, worse than rats for breeding and eating mouldy bread and custard cream biscuits like theres no tomorrow:lol::lol::lol:

sounds like a ventilation problem to me, try HG mouldspray, and if there's no extractor fan, remember to leave shower enclosure door and bathroom door open after use:thumbsup:
