:mad2: had a horrible day at wrk 2day.removed tiles last wk,walls a real mess and sed they needed it sorting and ring for a plasterer.gon bk+its the worst skimming you ever seen.i also sed to customer to get it levelled as too bad+he sed that the plasterer sed,its ok,the tiler will sort it out-well i tried to but by 3 i started packing away, the customer came upstairs+i sed i wasnt happy atall as its bowing+bevelling evrywhere+cant put too thick or wont set, hence come bk off wall.he sed hes moving+can i do best i can anyway,so i carried on but not happy.what do you do wen walls TOO BAD??.unfortunately i cant plaster or id of sorted it myself.he did say to up the bill as it taking me longer, which fair enough but i go bk nxt wk(his nxt day off)+i hope tiles still on wall-help please!!

Always tell the plaster that the walls are being painted otherwise they use that phrase, 'The tiler will sort it'! AAArrrrgggghhh

thats only because we have faith in tilers! ha ha. if you stick a straight edge over the walls, identify the low spots and then patch em out with rapid set. should be enough, bit early to be tiling on fresh plaster but needs must. being honest ive never had to do this myself, have read a few post from more experienced tilers on here who have recommended rapidset for just this issue. hope this helps.

I'd get the plasterers number off the customer and phone him up myself, saying Im calling on the customers behalf as the walls are so bad they need doing again to a propper quality this time.

just dot and dab the wall with plaster board mate, quick and inexpensive and will save you a lot of faffing about!

Lets face it that cowboy plasterer wont be coming back, he is laughing his b******s off, it most probably took him the best part of a couple of hours by the sound of it

slightly off the main line, but how long should you leave new plaster before you tile over it??

Hi r&k,

4 weeks is the norm for tiling onto new plaster i believe. Although it may look dry on the surface it may not be so underneath. plasterboard would definitely have been my preferred method if poss.

Completely agree, I do both, and a pro plasterer should be able give you a near perfect surface. Sounds like one of those Property- maintenance types that know just about enough, more than the customer, to blag them...

By the way, i'm listening to the west ham game and we're 1-0 up, should've had two pens, and very nearly was playing 10 men...
