No, not really but i find some of the thicker ones are really very hard and tough,maybe i'm wrong but??
Porcelain is porcelain,the bed is more important.

quite surprised noone's preaching to use an uncoupling membrane, As the base is so solid a wouldnt bother but im still surprised noones mentioned it.

thought you meant just a damp proof not an uncoupling.

I did....but it will help with the uncoupling as well...but not needed if a DPM is present.

Tiled garage floors are the norm in Spain do it all the time but we tend to use what they call a Gres tile, dont know the English for it but it is a ceramic but much harder usualy non slip and frost resistant.
