@Olde Navy the quality of slate is going to be imperative in this installation.
Slate could be a poor choice for a covering in this type of application.
Poor quality slates are very fragile and the twisting and turning of a tyre with such a high point load could cause the slate to laterally delaminate.
Is the slate calibrated and what experience have you of installing uncalibrated slate because that alone would answer a lot of the questions regarding notch selection.
Notch choice could be irrelevant if it's uncalibrated.
In regards to exspansion what shape is the room, you mention that it's approximately upwards of 40 square metres but what is the longest run, are any of the walls full glass?

Hi Lee Mac
As mentioned I don't factually know the spec of the tile but appreciate this is critical... I will find out and make sure all parties are aware of the challenges and thanks for your pointers.
There are no glass walls. Re sizing I'm not sure of dimensions but will find out.

The major lesson I have learned is not to post a thread on here without very clear information and facts. (My Saturday evening throw away conversation approach back-fired😵🙁)

I guess the main area of interest was the adhesive - I'll ring a few manufacturers🙂

Great that people bother to respond and try to help me - really appreciate it

You're throw away conversation did not backfire.
It was just a misunderstanding I'm sure.
Stop beating yourself up about something that doesn't even matter mate.
My word if we all worried about posting something that wasn't clearly understood by everyone, we'd of all stopped posting years ago.
We all feel at some point we've posted something we shouldn't, and yet we were all worried about nothing. Cos ultimately, the only person who is bothered by it is you. So chill geezer, it's kool! 🙂

I've posted some ***** on here, I don't think anyone bothered! There's just a lot of knowledgable folk on here who want the complete picture to be able to offer the right advice.

🙂:neutral:Update for those interested !!!?

The tiles are 300x600 porcelain.

It seems as though a good quality slow set flexible (e.g. Setaflex) will do the job so long as the coverage is 100% - Tiger trowel with *T-Lock spacers should do the trick

(*I've overcome the ingrained attitude of not walking on a newly laid floor and now walk on it as soon as it is laid - as per their instruction video - to help maximise coverage and have had no problems to date).

FYI. Bal seem to have a product called Moto Bond which they say is specifically for car showrooms etc but the open time is 20mins (might be me but I'd predict 'hassles' with that timing) and to be honest if the slow set suppliers tech. dept. assure me its fit for purpose...

Keep you posted...:flushed:

You mean they did until they discontinued it 2 years ago 🙂

They recommend the Stone and Tile PTB now for garage floors.

PS. Constantly check your coverage with the tiger trowel. I had a few issues when using it with levelling clips.
