Evening all
Just removed tiles in a kitchen and the substrate is plaster which has some big chunks missing approx 1 inch deep. I would normally skim the walls flat, but I want to know what I could use so I can tile onto without a long delay. The tiles going on are small ceramics approx 20 x 10. Wafer thin so no weight issues. I was going to use bal white star as an adhesive but no sure now, all depends on results from this request.

you could use rapid set cement, i used a lafarge one recently and it was rock solid after 10 minutes . i tiled it a couple of hours later

Thanks mike

Could I use rapid set tile adhesive as a filler, then use adhesive over that once set?

You could but do it in a few layers but prime the plaster first with an acrylic primer, not pva..

One coat patching plaster. No need for expensive products. I use the one from wickes , rapid setting

Thanks Dave, but bal render only about a tenner a bag, will not break the bank.
