Hi all I have a bathroom to do and a small floor area less than 2m2 the floor is joist with 18 mm ply on top, I cannot feel any deflection, my question is would you tile straight onto this small area with a flexible adhesive or overboard it ? Thanks in advance fir any advice

If it's deflection free I'd still overboard it with 6mm hardie, simply for a better surface to tile to. What tiles are you fitting?

Edit, fix the hardie with flex adhesive and screw every 200mm. Apologies if you already know this!

Stick and screw 6mm hardie then tile. Don't forget the expansion gaps between the boards and tape the joints (not that there will be many joints on a 2m floor!)

i agree with the above.Just done a similar floor myself and i love the stuff. When i first started tiling i was told 6mm ply is more than enough but i know better now, thats what happens when you listen to so called tilers/bathroom fitters. The best advice i've recieved on all areas of tiling so far has come from this site.So thanks everyone,
