Floating floor?!

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Got asked to price a job up in a pizza kitchen.
tiles all bouncing & cracked due to deflection (majorly)

there was a hole in the floor when I got there. Mixed tiles laid onto flakey ply which laid on polystyrene insulation sheets which laid on Dmp sheet on concrete floor!

ply bounces everywhere, polystyrene bouncing...
Advice on what to do here please?

Run for the hills!

avoid the hole in the floor, go to Dominoes and never tile floating floors.. or only fix with sky hooks ;-)

the main purpose of the floor is to improve floor insulation, I think if I can get the job, I would be better off taking back the insulation and tiling straight in the the concrete, once prep'd & primed.
