Hi All, Got a job coming up using fired earth tiles, hand painted and glazed. Glaze is 'crackled', so have been informed that they will need sealing. I don't dispute this, but wanted to know if there is anything else i need to know regarding fitting. Will be using white cement based adhesive, ivory grout ( or similar ) and suitable sealer as recommended by tile shop or you guys. Any ideas / opinions / advice ????

Haven't done any for years but it used to be some dark grouts used to stain some of them, but I would try grout on a tile first before buying sealer. Also the mosture would go through the glaze on some tiles and you would see it but I haven't seen that for years but then I haven't fixed fired earth tiles for a long time.

What other advice do you think you need.
Which range of tiles in their collection is it?

TJ - Just wanted to know if there is anything special to look out for when fixing these tiles. Getting sealer from tile giant, LTP Crackle glaze sealer, recommended by them, white adhesive and jasmin grout. Not sure of the range of tiles, but can find out. Would this be considered a 'specialist job' ??

No matter how much care you take they are made to have a particular 'look' and aesthetically rustic. In the many years in using their crackle glaze tiles I've never sealed them and it is possibly a procedure that is now recommended.
