There are two types of DNA blades on Montolit site - one has 10mm of diamonds and one is described as Std - Whats the difference and is one better at some jobs than the other .

The one in the photo on Merlercollins post has expandsion grooves - the other looks solid ?

If you can guide us to the difference it might be helpful

Thanks - Richard

Hi richard..

Continuous rim blades blades like the one you mentioned can usually be used dry..the split segmented DNA blade from trade tiler is wet cut only..

I haven't used or seen the other DNA one , so can only comment on the one tradetiler sells.

Hello Dave

There are acutally two types of DNA blades - sorry for confusion earlier. One is described as 'Sectormont SCX' and the other Sectormont SCX Silent'
One has std diamond ht and the other is deeper at 10mm and that is the ' Silent ' - Both are segmented and both are 'Wet Only'

I don't really understand, except the deeper version is likely to be more expensive and probably last longer. If you look at the Adobe version its pretty obvious to see why you like the performance as the construction of the diamond setting is the key

Thanks Dave - Next time I'm looking for a new blade for any of our wet saws, I give David Neave a shout - especially if I'm looking to cut off the dogs daggly bits.

I've now got my dewalt d2400. Words can not explain how good this tile cutter is. I am so amazed, i can't wait to go to work on monday and use it. Its saves so much time and is so easy, i cant believe how i was doing it before. If anyone else is face with a decision like this, BUY IT. You'll earn the money back in no time.

I had to write something on this site about it, my girlfriend fed up of hearing about it. 🙂

apparently the montolit tornado is made in china and its suffering a few teething problems? the laser has been an issue too.

i think pound for pound the dewalt is a much wiser buy ;0)

also, its worth mentioning that the dewalt floor square is identical to the montolit floor square except they are 2 different colours. the dewalt being silver, the monti being yellow. the dewalt is around £160, the montolit is around £230...sometimes you are just paying for a name? not always, but sometimes...
