Until i got a 170 ish msq, job at a kennels it was the biggest job i'v done since starting tiling 6 yrs ago. Then i got asked to tender for a load of burger kings, which i knew was out of my league, so passed it on to a forum member ( hopefully he's got some work out of it) even though i never even got a thankyou. Since then i booked in a couple in a couple of small jobs. Then tonight within 45 minutes 2 emails, asking me to price 2 more 180+ msq jobs, hopefully this means my name is now out and about there, and i'm doing things right.

Sorry just had to share this with you, it just made my day.

It's like that sometimes Phil, I hope you get these ones. Nice one mate, you must be doing something right.

Are you sure those E-mails weren't Dave winding you up? I understand he was bored today and at a loose end.

Yep we get them too...

Dont drill a hole for weeks and then this week had FOUR jobs to go drill holes in.

All of them wanting it "Done Now" of course. I wonder if they will all be as fast to pay the invoices tho......

Now who is being silly ?

You can be sure the quicker they want you the slower the cheque book!

Very true that, I have always found that most builders are never off the phone to me when they want a job doing, but as soon as the job is complete they don't answer their phones or are in a meeting. Strange........:mad2:

that is why i send involice after each bathroom is complete, not when all 6 bathrooms done. Less of a risk.

Yep i'm on the ball when it comes to invoicing.
I created my own excel spreadsheet that creates the invoice at the same time i create an estimate, so bingo the invoice is ready to go....having said that i work for a builder and i do some lovely jobs and they pay within a week, and i finished a shower room today and it was paid into my bank by the time i was home, very nice customers too!!

Not bad when you can get your moneys in straight away. I gassed the builders I done a bit for that took 30 days to pay. Just work with ones that pay you within the week now. Predictably enough, the two worst payers have now went bankrupt and into administration. If a company can't pay you within a week or a lying week, you have to ask yourself why?
