6mm tile backer board - which side should I tile?

I've got four 6mm tile backer boards which I assumed would have been No More Ply but for some reason the tile shop I ordered from sent another brand.
I'm not really bothered about that but what I would like to know is which side I should tile to. The other side will be face down on the floor on top of 18mm ply and will be stuck with No More Ply adhesive and screwed at 100mm centres.

One side is quite shiney:

The other has a slight matted texture:

With Hardie Tile Backer Boards you stick them down with Fast set flexible tile adhesive the same as you are going to use to fix the tiles with!

Thats what i'd fix those with as well

If using the mega adhesive in the way the "no more ply" website shows then surely you are still left with a "void" under the board

I assume you would still screw them as well?

It's just that there's a very slight bow in the boards so I couldn't reply on them sitting perfectly flat.

Just rapid set adhesive straight onto the ply then the backer board on top?

Can i ask why, and this may seem a silly question to some, but why are you going to put the backer boards onto the ply? Why not just tile straight to the ply?
