I am looking at doing a 23m squared floor, quite straight forward apart from where it goes from floorboards to a chipboard extension there is roughly a 3 to 4mm difference. Both floors are level so it is an immediate drop.

The tiles are 450 X 450. I was going to put some screed on to the lower floor and feather it out over a meter or so then go ahead and lay the ply etc.

Is this the way to go or is there a more obvious way?😕

Sounds to me like you have it covered. Floors like that are always a bit tricky and depending on how long the run of the drop is usually depends on the method you use to get around it.

Is it the chipboard or the floorboards that are lower?

check for seperate movement in the levels if so feather back (latex) and cover jiont with ditra matting supplied by schluter sustems flexy adh this will allow for a small amout of movement make sure you price for the matting ££££ big bucks

PLy out the high side with 9mm ply and the low side with 12 mm ply, this should bring the levels together, better agin with 12mm and 15mm ply, but 15mm is hard to find.
Its one solution

Hi Dan Chipboard is the lower level, is that okay to latex on?

You dont need the latex, if the floors are both level and no slope, only a straight drop where they meet, do as i said above, that will give you an even floor right through, you have to ply out anyway on both surfaces
