sealant
Sealant is a substance used to block the passage of fluids through the surface or joints or openings in materials, a type of mechanical seal. In building construction sealant is sometimes synonymous with caulking and also serve the purposes of blocking dust, sound and heat transmission. Sealants may be weak or strong, flexible or rigid, permanent or temporary. Sealants are not adhesives but some have adhesive qualities and are called adhesive-sealants or structural sealants.

Hi.
I am looking to use a coloured BAL sealant (Micromax) to finish off my wet room. Within the spec sheet it states '

grouting – BS 5385:Part 4'
And in another section it mentions a minimum of 7 days to use the shower.

Hiya guys
New wetroom has a small leak. Its taken 3 months to show but I think I've traced it to a small section of sealant around the floor/wall edge that has dragged when tooled and another small section down the edge of a tile.
At least I hope it is.
Anyhow. Do I have to remove ALL of the...

Evening all,
We have recently bought and I am planning on retiling our small bathroom with white metro tiles and plain white grout at a spacing of 2mm. Although there are threads on here covering beginners they are from years ago so wondered what the latest products you'd recommend are?
So...
Finally got the beige porcelain tiles clean from black grout.
Apparently I should have used a sealer/impregnator on them before grouting and to help clean them more easily in the future????
If so, what make would you recommend?
Thanks
I asked this in a different section, but did not realy get the answer. I have tiled a shower recess, using grey grout. I will silicone the corners in grey, should I also silicone between the tray and the bottom tiles in grey, or should this be in white? is there a best practice for this, as I've...

Hi all. I've got a job with these fore-mentioned terracotta floor tiles and wondering which inpregnating/sealing method you finds easiest/least hassle. It's been 17 years since i worked with the stuff!
I'm considering the lithofin modern method.
All input appreciated. Many thanks.
Hi
I recently moved into a new house where the grout needed replacing around 1-2 tiles in the bathroom. I scraped out the old grout and put new grout on top. After about 2 months that new grout is now cracking. Since nothing else has cracked I assume it's not because of movement so could it be...

I was recently asked to remove & replace the silicone sealant around a shower tray. When I got to the job I found that apparently it had been leaking through to the ceiling below. Not surprising I thought when I saw the cracks in the floor of the (big) tray. I pointed out that there's no real...
