To Have and Have Not is a novel by Ernest Hemingway published in 1937 by Charles Scribner's Sons. The book follows Harry Morgan, a fishing boat captain out of Key West, Florida. To Have and Have Not was Hemingway's second novel set in the United States, after The Torrents of Spring.
Written sporadically between 1935 and 1937, and revised as he traveled back and forth from Spain during the Spanish Civil War, the novel portrays Key West and Cuba in the 1930s, and provides a social commentary on that time and place. Hemingway biographer Jeffrey Meyers described the novel as heavily influenced by the Marxist ideology Hemingway was exposed to by his support of the Republican faction in the Spanish Civil War while he was writing it. The work got a mixed critical reception. The novel had its origins in two short stories published earlier in periodicals by Hemingway ("One Trip Across" and "The Tradesman's Return") which make up the opening chapters, and a novella, written later, which makes up about two-thirds of the book. The narrative is told from multiple viewpoints, at different times, by different characters, and the characters' names are frequently supplied under the chapter headings to indicate who is narrating that chapter.

Hi all,
Just had the bathroom floor tiled - well almost , the builder walked off after a disagreement.
The floor job is 8 square metres of ceramic tiles on a plywood boarded wooden floor. It was primed and I think PVA was used.
The adhesive is Mapei Rapid Set flexible.
The builder left his...

So if you had the chance to go with Bill and Ted to ANYWHERE in History and ask just ONE person ONE question.
WHO would it be and WHAT would you ask?
For me it wouldn't be that far back in time actually, only as far as back as 2012
I would want to talk to Felix Baumgarter, who at the time did...
It's starting to get confusing with so many forums using similar domain names to our own. So to help stop the confusing I've edited our email colours and they now look like this.
So those emails are from our forum. The other standard colours (for now at least) are from the imitation forums.
Having trawled through the internet i have stumbled across this forum and was wondering if anyone could help the dilemma we are currently facing.
We have recently purchased an old victorian terrace which is in dire needs of repair and restoration. When we took up the carpet and lino in the...

When looking at the opportunity to work in the USA, it's obvious that we here in Britain have it all wrong when we let anyone in and have no record of them leaving!
Now this thread isn't about politics or immigration it's just a point of interest at the moment where I see border agency checks to...

Hi People,
I'd like to ask you for your advice. Does anybody have any opinion about localtraders com?
Is it worthy of paid money?
They called me today and were offering their services: building of website, providing leads to customer inquiries etc.
Many thanks for any help.

The tanking in the shower consisted of green and yellow insulation tape!! All the way around. I did look a nice colour though!

That emulsion is ok to tile onto,
PVA primer is suitable to tile over,
9mm ply overlay is fine onto a 1st floor chipboard floor with vertical movement,
Adding 6mm ply onto 9mm makes the floor even stronger,
Ditra will also solve this vertical movement in the floor,
That if someone says they have...
Just thought I'd ask to see what the score is these days. What have you been up to lately? Both in and out of work.
Tiling anything decent? Been on holiday? Moved house? Got a new job? Got a new employee?
Just finished a bathroom and separate toilet yesterday. On arriving at the customers at 8am sharp (like I always do ), thought it strange that she followed me up the stairs!. She said "that tile there is a different colour", oh that's just tile dust on the face I said (it was a tiny wc room...
