New Career (hopefully!!)

Hi, I've recently been on a two weekend tiling course to learn some basics and really enjoyed it,so thought it would be a great career to get into. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this is made possible and is it harder for females to have a career in tiling??? Plus any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Market yourself right and youll get tons of female customers. Theres loads of experienced tilers who‘ll help you on here.

I would strongly suggest you try and get some experience alongside experienced tilers. A very fast way to learn.

Also - the single best piece of advice given to me when I started out:
Forget making money at first. Concentrate solely on doing an A1 job - regardless of how long it takes you.
If you ALWAYS return great work, you will build a reputation which will keep you busy - no need to advertise.

Speed and profit come in time. View your 1st couple of years as "learning while earning".

no but most are pretty friendly and willing to pass on some skills in exchange for a bit of fetching and carrying!

You will find great advice here, all of the above is spot on.. just reading through all the posts i've learnt heaps and i've been tiling for 11 years..

Stay away from builders always go with your gut feeling

Im in your area jaclyn,its best to do jobs for family and friends,friends of friends,thats how you build it up ,but best to go with a local tiler to get experience,a couple of days a week for free,thats what i did while i was at college ,went with the best guy about for free ,the best thing i did ,good luck

I haven't purchased any tools yet,didn't know whether it was best to wait until I got some experience?
