Ply or Backer board

What do you guys and girls think is better onto floor boards 12mm ply or 10mm backer board ?

i like to use 9mm no more ply

use the mega strength adhesive you buy with it and 8 screws per board and tile away. they do it in 6mm but the 9mm is rock solid with no flex

i use hardi backer boards! there concrete based & very sturdy!

i use 12mm on the floor to guarrantee stability!

it would be ok on walls, but its a risk on floors in my opinion!
easy to use as they come in sq.metre boards!

screw it down to floor boards m8, inch screws is perfect as it wont go through pipes under the boards!

Do you lay them in adhesive then 6" nails or just the nails on there own ?

i use blue-tack then 6 inch nails and seal the joints with sellotape....:lol:

when installing backer boards on a floor make sure the adhesive has 100% coverage( no voids ) and screw down as well..you can get backerboard screws with washers from topps....

out of interest how much will it cost to backer board a 10ms floor inc screws

backer boards are about £12 each...........screws and washers are pennys...

12mm ply is not suitable for tiling spf onto floor boards.You would still need 2 part flexi....so why bother to ply ???
