Who has had TFD ?! what pads and shoes do you wear now?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi all,
I am 21 and have recently started up my own business.
I started my second proper job nearly 2 months ago... 12m2 bathroom floor with 1 step upto a shower tray.

it took me two days to lay the floor. On awaking on the 3rd day (grouting day) I got out of bed and soon realised when walking to the kitchen I could not move my left foot at all...
I got onto my mum & step dad (doctors) to ask what it could be...

Here I am 7 weeks, 2 doctor appointments, 1 orthopaedic appointment & 1 physiotherapist trip LATER.
Most movement has returned but no toe movement...

Has any of you had TFD ( Foot drop - Peroneal Nerve damage)

What knee pads do you recommend for comfort & any particular work shoes?
I wear my Etnies trainers for floors & Marksmen steelie trainers for walls

Have you consider seeing a chiropractor? This could be a skeletal misalignment issue of which the symptom is pinching of a particular nerve.

The Peroneal Nerve is closely related to the Sciatic nerve and your symptom could be a sign of vertebral injury or misalignment.

Doesn't bode well for future work if one small floor has done this to you, I always wear my safety boots, walls and floor, get a decent pair from the off, your feet will thank you, and Alpro pads are amongst the best going, even if they do look and feel a bit outlandish lol

The Peroneal nerve runs down the out side of your knee, the professionals think i must have lent over and compressed it

Modern medicine doesn't actually understand a great deal about the human anatomy, or more importantly interactions of various parts of human anatomy.

My wife has Multiple Sclerosis - Medicine doesn't know what it is and want throw drugs at it, we actually found out 18 months she had a TMJ issue (jaw misalignment) which in turn was messing up her skeleton. She's now having dental treatment to address the issue and this has started to remove a raft of symptoms in her legs and arms that has historically been attributed to MS.

It would certainly be worth a visit for you to a chiropractor to see if there is anything obviously not where it should be. Symptoms often appear to be entirely disconnected or remote from the actual problem itself.

Get yourself some Scruffs boots, best I've had and not "heavy" like some boots

As for knee pads, I've never been able to get on with them had 3 Opps on my knees over the 12 years I've been doing bathroom refurbs and settled with kneeling matts which are OK if your on your knees for short periods, BUT I found out after doing my first floor they are no good for me so I got a decent pair of nailers knee pads yesterday, haven't tried them out yet but as soon as I do il let you know

It is a hazard of the job , aches / pains / numbness etc etc.. along with cuts and the worst of all... Plumbers

Her indoors has this TMJ issue for a number of years yes a dental thing she's been lucky and got referred to a Harley street specialist who took pity on her as was a friend of our doctor who put in touch with someone in a local hospital who's one of the top guys in the UK on The NHS

I never got on with safety boots/shoes and prefer Nike Air trainers for comfort. I use those slide in knee pad thingies.

Until you see a guy minus a big toe and two thirds of his next toe you probably won't get on with them :nonod: but hey, they have their uses :innocent:
