Been to look at a wetroom, in a basement tonight. The customer tells me that the concrete floor will be covered with a delta dpm, and a floating floor will be installed on top of this, the shower deck a insulation board type will be secured. I have always believed that you cannot tile a floating floor, but the builder says this is alright, so i could do with some advice on this subject before he goes ahead. Thanks for any help

Another case of the tail trying to wag the dog. I aint a tiler so I don't know but why would the builder know better than you the pro tiler?

just tell the builder not to put the floating floor in where the wet room area is going to be ,in this area alternative flooring could be used more suitable for tiling such as ridgid insulation and sand and cement screed

Thanks gary, i did actually say to them, just get the builder to screed over the dpm. But i couldn't of sounded too convinsing, as she told me the builder was very experienced in this sort of job, obviously not.

The deltra membrane unless covered in a huge amount of concrete/screed will move

It is a plastic membrane for damp proofing and has a raised/pitted surface to allow air movement/Water drainage
