Hi, newbie here.
Am planning a wetroom in the new extension.
Currently specifying the floor. Obviously the tray part of the wet room will sit on the joists. The tray is 20mm deep. what material should I spec for the remainder of the floor? WBP ply, 20mm thick? or are there better substrates to spec.

Hi Jen.
I'd spec Marmox boarding, it comes in all thicknesses, one being 20mm.
This is a much better substrate than plywood, it's stable, insulated and waterproof.

I wouldn't put 20mm marmox directly onto the joists.
Jenny you don't mention if the tray is formed for tiling or will just sit on/next to the tiles.
PHG wetrooms - a forum sponsor, will have all the products and information you require - ask for Dave.

If you're putting the former/tray on the joists it will need support. Do this by placing ply in between the joists supported by timbers screwed to the joist at what ever thickness ply you're using below the top of the joists.

If that makes sense .
