Wet and dry Vacuum

Has anyone bought a reasonable priced wet and dry vacuum cleaner? Has it stood the test of time?
I could do with something that wont break the bank ...lets say around £150 or is this being unreasonable ?

Hitachi do one thats also a dust collecter for your tools , it has the socket too so that it only runs when your tools running, nice bit of kit, mines about 4 yrs old and still running strong

And I thought I had got a good deal at that as it had been £150 in the local tool shop:incazzato: Great vac Neale and it was recommended by a builder that I work for - he's had it's predecessor for a good ten years

Tried Karcher for wet and dry vacs, Very poor in quality and pic up

Makita do a wet and dry vac thats resonable

We now have a henry for dry , Probably the best hoover you can get and pick-up is fantastic no matter how much dust/dirt/rubble you put in it

Mainly the later but if i can clean the carpet all the better.

The Vax is a belter then Neale

You will need one that has suitable filters for cleaning slurry sometimes.... The normal workshop type might not be suitable...always best to ask before you buy.

Dewalt do a good one, heard good reports from a supplier about them but then i guess they would say that :/

Have got the Nilfisk Alto25ltr wet and dry from Screwfix for £90
Found it superb-powerful and a good size also has a handy built in socket that you can plug power tools into and also an nozzle attachment that fits onto certain power tools.
I'm sure last year it was advertised more exspensively in the catologue

Does depend on actual usuage so size will come into it, will you be using this a lot & light use. Numatic do a very good range and sizes.
water capacity 23 ltrs approx £280.

I got a Vax. Not sure wot model - had it at least 15 years. I use it for building jobs when I need to wash floor boards, walls, woodwork, garden path, patio etc etc. Really good suction have to replace the filter pretty regularly and had to replace the hose when I sucked up a load of wet plaster and it went off in the hose. It is one heavily abused machine. Cost me £75 or thereabouts and I use it at least once a week.

Sorry I lied - It is not a Vax - it is an Aquavac. Still not sure wot model though - all the stickers have long since fallen off. It is grey and red if that helps......

One of the builders I work with has a ryobi wet & dry vac it's the larger of the 2 sizes they do and he's had it for years, very good & also blows so you can blow bits of dust out of corners. Dead handy for cleaning out joints between stone when repointing we found.

It's cheapish to £109 from ryobi direct uk.
