Hi, Joined the forum as we(husband really, I am just keeping clear) are changing carpet in toilet, shower room and bathrooom to tiles. Starting with downstairs toilet (and sink) then if we succeed heading upstairs to the bathroom.
Presently hubbie got tiles laid out on floor and has cut round pedestal sink. Not gone round toilet yet.
Any tips gratefully recieved as I am sure there will be lots 'frustrated moments' in there!
thanks kiwipom.

p.s. got a good tile cutter.

Re: help..tiling toilet floor!

A tile cutter isnt the answer as they cut straight cuts.
Setting out will help make the job easier. Try and get a grout line to work centre of the front of the pan and pedestal if you can as this will give you 2 halfs on each item you are cutting around. It doesnt work all the time thouogh as you may be left with unsightly small cuts elsewhere.
The actual cutting is best done with tile snips and take it small pieces at a time. Mark the tile to roughly the shape and snip it out, then offer it up and mark again and so on. Or you could get cardboard the same size as the tile and use that as templates.

hello and welcome to the forums.........paper templates can be used...just cut to tile size and cut to shape then transfer to tile.....

Re: help..tiling toilet floor!

Good advice Sir Ramic,in addition this is not an easy job and you would be better off removing both items if possible....good luck

Re: help..tiling toilet floor!

Thanks! Good advice, will try that. Or rather tell my husband about it!

Next time i get asked to tile around pans, pedestal and bidets i am doubling the price. I have done one today and of course they chose the largest tiles they could find....the cheapest too i think:whatchutalkingabout

Always better to remove toilet and sink etc and tile full floor then re-fit them back on top, but often it isn't possible.

Welcome to the forums virgin

ok, read a lot on this website and so have gone for the removing toilet option. Stuck though as the floor screws are just not budging! Drill not working..Any ideas? Seems like they are set in the concrete floor.
