Hi all

Been a wall and floor tiler for some years now mainly conservatories.

But a friend has just asked me to tile bathroom walls with Travertine Tiles. He's supplying the adhesive and grout and sealer.

How much would you charge per sq/metre. I usually charge £25 sq/m for ceramics.

Thanks in anticipation

£35-£40 depending on size

Travertine is more difficult and takes a bit longer to work with than ceramics.
If I were you and the customer was a regular one, I'd charge more. I tend to give friends decent rebates though, unless it's something really demanding, technically and/or time wise.

Does your normal £25/m2 include addy and grout? You won't have to charge for that if he's supplying.

Yes my ceramics charge is £25 m/2 supplying addy and grout. (Too cheap????)

Thats why i thought the £25 m/2 was ok for Trav if customer supplying grout/adhesive.

Cheers

The market is different over here, but I charge in the region of (the equivialent of) £18/m2 for ceramics work NOT including materials when doing work for friends, so £25/m2 not including mats is probably fair as a "friends-rate" for natural stone work. I do not do linear pricing though. I made a post on that topic some time ago.

Here's a link.

Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Keep in mind that it applies to materials as well. Materials for small jobs are proportionally much more expensive than materials for larger jobs. There are many variables to take into account.

I've been working on a spreadsheet for quick and easy calculation of material amounts and costs. I've posted a translated version of it in the Tiler's Forum Arms, but since you do not have access to it, I could mail it to you. Write a reply, or send me a PM if you want a copy.

Mail sent. If you haven't gotten anything, check your spam box, as it's a gmail account I've mailed from.

Anyone else? It's an beefed up version of the one I posted in the tilers arms recently 🙂 It can be used to calculate required amounts, and the ensuing costs, of primer, leveling compounds, waterproofing systems, adhesive, grout, and Silicon, and it sums up in a nice and simple way 🙂 I've included lists of the products I use for demonstrational purposes, so you won't have to research your products before you can check out what the sheet can do.
