right im no chemist, and as iv said before many time no master tiler, but ettringite is the crystal thingy that stops concrete from flash setting or whatever they call it, so wheres the probs Dave?

Portland cement reacts with the gypsum...causing Etrringite failure...that is why you use acrylic primer when tiling onto gypsum walls with cement based adehsives...

So by mixing portland cement neat with gypsum bonding then the chance of a reaction is very high...

Ok ya!!..

Doug is right - you MUST wrap any copper pipes with tape to prevent corrosion, i also pin the pipes to the back of the channel with large P clips that are sold for clipping back pipes (stops them rattling with expansion etc.) i also scrim over the top then use hardwall (dead cheap and makes a good solid finish), before i addy then tile. No need to wait ref the hardwall, it goes off super fast and then you can tile.

Doug its great for filling chasings, nothing more and you only need a tiny amount and it does set it livley then you can set somthing overtop same day, im not condoning bonding entire walls like that!

Dave i wasnt aware of that so thanks for the info:thumbsup: but even with wall chases i multifinish over them as i said in my reply to Doug. thats what you get listening to plasterers:incazzato::lol:

interesting posts was taut years ago at tech to add small amount of plaster powder to a small (hawk full) of mixed render to fill deep patches of render repair work (only to be done internal work) but ive never tried mixing cement powder to plaster /// to make plaster set quickly add table salt to a small portion and mix:8:

You boys ever pee'd in your plaster? when I was a lad they use to do it all the time to slow it down, haven't 'seen' anybody do it for years though, i'm not sure it ever worked
