Tiling on emulsion or not - Tile Advice

Can I tile on emulsion walls? If not what do I need to do please prior to starting?

Have started to chip away emulsion as beat I can but wondered what else I could do please

No my bathroom! Have taken emulsion off now

Someone said you could sand down and score but always thought it was a no no completely so thought I would ask

Good man yourself!
Yes removal is the way to go if it is not fully adhered.
Either scrape off with blade/scraper/chisel. If it’s tough then a good trick is to trowel some cheap rubbish tub mix adhesive over it, then it softens up - about the best use of tub mix.

Glad you took it off, for future if you have one a steam wallpaper stripper works a treat score down the wall with a Stanley knife. A sharp scraper, and jobs a good un. Still a pain though.

Problem with the score/steam method is it can blow the plaster or turn a good surface into a poor one.

True that ,but I find it usually gets rid of plaster you wouldn't want to tile over any way. This method also works on tub tile adhesive.
