Hey when tiling a kitchen can I tile straight off the worktop? Or do I need to leave a 1mm or 2mm spacer between my first tile and the worktop. Thanks for any advice.

2mm gap which you infill with Silicon to absorb any movement from worktop....also ensure that the work top is level...if not batton across the length about half tile high and cut bottom row to fit.

hope this helps

Personally I always leave a small gap to get a better fix with the Silicon. (Don't grout between the tiles and worktop as it will just crack and come out)

Hi Marksim...as the above all say. Just check your cuts first...its a pain starting at the worktop then having small cuts above plugs or under the units. If you need to use a cut tile as your bottom row to get better cuts above then do what cj said...use a batton then put your cuts in last with a space. I always use taper spacers between worktop and tile as you can easily level your cut tiles and if the gaps are different they are covered by the silicon.

Ok thanks for the advice. Is it best to seal the unit first before tiling. Or is a beam afterwards ok? As for the the gap then will I be ok with using 2mm tile spaces on the sides? Or do people use a different method.

never came a cut tile of a worktop for a splashback dont think I like the sound of that.

spacers on there side will be 3 or 4mm, if you want a slightly bigger joint carry on

What size are the tiles anyhow?
