Hi All
I have been to see a guy today who is understandably gutted about the fact his tiles have failed over a Gyvlon screed and at the moment is being directed to the Gyvlon being the cause.
I have checked out the screed itself and am confident that it is fine. In terms of post inst treatment he has done everything I would have expected - sanded\vacuumed/Dried/UFH comissioned etc etc. No joints were necessary in this one. Any way to cut a long story short (most unlike me I know) he has done the screed by the book.
He has then used a water dispersible epoxy primer and Ultra rapid set SPF addy with Ultra Flexi grout. Again no issues with these as far as I can tell.
The tiles themselves are white speckled with silver flecks like a reconstituted material (possibly resin tiles?????). They are 12mmx600mmx600mm. They have physically curled some look like square dishes. the addy has split between the screed and the tile so the primer has done its job but has essentially failed.
Question is - has anyone seen this sort of curling before and can anyone say what is likely to cause it. I have not come across this before although I know there are some potential issues with resin backed tiles.
Thanks in anticipation.
Alan
