Hi

Ok the misses wants the kitchen done. So went out and got paint tiles etc. I now discover there was a door in kitchen that has been boarded up with ply wood after removing some tiles. Lining paper then ply wood. Good eh. Its only a small area about 30cm x 60cm.

I am using Bal green star already got it. The tiles are the ceramic brick type. Can i fix to the ply as the other tiles were there and its a small area?

Must've been a small door?!?
Its upto you really.
But a little bit of research on here will show you most people's opinions on tiling onto ply'd walls.
Think I'd replace with plasterboard?

No thats the area that was covered with tiles. If i replace with plaseter boards means ripping out the kitchen cuboards etc?

Prime the area with acrylic primer such as bal apd or ardex p51.
Personally I never use ready mixed but for a splashback im sure its fine.

That's a small door,
if the area which has been boarded has a unit attached then yes the applicable cupboards will have to come off.

As far as tiling onto any ply substrate I don't recommend it.
If you do ahead with the ply substrate make sure the wood is free of all paint/old adhesive etc then (As Cam Low said) prime prior to tiling.
