i am going to strip out the old tiles on my kitchen floor and replace with new ones any tips for the preperation of the floor do i need to remove old self leveling compound or would i get away with just the tiles and skimming over compound again i ve not done tiling b4 as you may well guess
cheers

Why not tile over your existing tiles, providing the step is not to high when you have done it?

There is a high risk that the levelling compound may come up with some of the tiles, so be prepared to patch and repair the floor where necessary to prep the floor for the tiles.

With setting out, preparation is time seldom wasted....

Sparky, welcome to the forums.

I'd get the tiles up, rather than tiling over them as height could be an issue and unless you know who fixed the originals, they may not be fixed well enough long-term to trust... really.

If you just get them up as best you can, then prep' the floor using either adhesive or a levelling compound and then re-tile from scratch. You'll feel a bit better knowing it's all secure and done correctly I think.
