Hi,
More expert advice required again!

I have bought an acrylic primer and latex self leveller for my concrete floor. Will be laying porcelain tiles.

I phoned the primer manufacturer and they advised to prime, wait until tacky then apply self leveller and then tile. Just been to my local tile shop to get grout and the fella said to only prime the self leveller then lay adhesive and tiles.

What would u do?

David

I always prime concrete floors, it doesn't take long and in my opinion it's not worth the risk of the SLC blowing which is possible if it's not primed and the floor is dusty. I prime the slc before tiling too, not always required but i prefer to play it safe

Thanks Pete, that's what I'll do. Do all primers need to be slightly tacky before putting substance over it? Or is it just mine. It's from larson.

Follow what the manufacturer advised and not some jumped up know nothing at the tile shop... 🙂🙂

One final question before I start in the morning. Acrylic primer and latex self leveller- any issues with these two working together? Latex one was on offer so grabbed it.

Dumbfounded by the lack of product knowledge from Tile shop staff at times, these firms should invest a wee bit more in staff training before giving customers bad advice and packing them of to potentialy ruin thousands of pounds worth of product!

As Dave says stick to manafacturers instrutions and TJ says use the same brand throughout instilation
