Sealing and adhesive question

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I would say that if i was going to be being paid to do work in somebody's home i would want to not only do a good job but also offer the best guarantee i can. Part and parcel of that is adhering to manufacturers instructions. You'd have no come back on the 25 year warranty BAL Offer on their adhesive if you've used a tub of green star to fix 600x300 porcelain. Why?? Because their product data sheets says not too and its printed on the side of the the tub!

Yes this forum contains a wealth of knowledge and advice. But you have the product sat in front of you!

A road says to only do 30mph but i bet you dont always adhere (excuse the pun) to the instructions, as 9 times out of ten any manufacturers of anything put instructions well within any tolerance to safeguard themselves legally ......well no need to ever ask a question again then I guess..... Sorry to bother you ill just delete my account and be off then

No need for that but that's up to you.
Im simply saying that things like instructions on products would be a good thing to read. I don't really think your speed example is relevant however wasn't there a big campaign with the slogan "kill your speed not a child"

Tolerance by manufacturers fine i accept that the same as sell by and use by dates on food is placed over cautiously in most cases.
But, i don't think adhesive manufacturers would recommend a max tile size of 300x300 if it could consistently and realistically fix the format your saying. +/-50% is some tolerance wouldn't you agree?

Hi regency the reason not to use tubbed adhesive is simple if theres ever any comebacks and you have gone against the manufactures instructions then you wouldnt have a leg to stand on legally,as for what tiles need sealing etc most tiles store bought will say on the box either pre-sealed or product requires sealing, but natural stone etc delivered on pallets etc will have no such instruction ,which is the where experience comes in.
Hope that helps answer your question.

I seem to be getting the feeling " wont be told" here, so why ask ?
The guys here know their stuff and what is right and wrong. They also know the difference between being a professional and .....well not being !

No offence but " my mate has always done it that way " is not acceptable !
