Dumbo

Just remembered I one a rubi comp once . They phoned me told me I had one and they were sending me some goodies. This will be good I thought. Any gifts arrived some sort of diy notched trowel .a bag of about 50 spacers , some of those score and snap pliers the only thing any good was an insulated travel mug . There might of been another item equally as useless as the others . Now I don't want to seem ungrateful ( obviously I am ) but why bother sending that sort of crap to a professional tiler . Even the spacers I wouldn't use because I'm proper anal and don't trust one manufacturers 2mm being the same size as another manufacturers . Has anybody else been sent equally as useless gifts by anybody . My local plumbers merchant gives me a coat hat and diary every year and I don't even shop there my mate gets it for me but they know who it is for .

Agree on the "goody bags". Bag full of utter rubbish normally.
T-Shirts so large they'd fit Honey monster, or kid's sizes only.
Trowels which rust in air. Fold-out rulers - what the actual HECK!?
Who uses those aside from Italians on Youtube? (Antonio?!)
USB sticks with 256mb so no use at all.

Trade day locally they were offering for the bargain price of £15:
A mapei mixing bucket (so brittle it cracks when you look at it) with - get this:
A hi viz vest/ one sponge/ and a plastic trowel.

I once won a competition and got a new van.
Flippin' useless! Why on Earth would anyone want a van?!
Taking up loads of space on the drive.
Then it needs deisel, tax, insurance (no mot so that's not SO bad I suppose:rolleyes:).
Then had to get to used to driving it and finding place for my tools etc.
A royal pain the butt I tell you :mad::mad:o_O

I won a set of 365 drills for JOTM in Sept 2009 on here. Still using them.
Best drills I've got!
We won 3 days in Paris 33years ago thanks to Sphinx Tiles (son now 32!)
Best son I've got!

You cannot please everyone all the time and some people are never happy!

I used to hate Sphinx tiles...always very sizey and a crappy glaze on them.

Do you use those folding rulers? I've only seen Italian piastrellista use them.
The reason for wooden metre rules is that they don't rust or stretch and therefore don't give you inaccurate readings.

I still have the same metre rule I bought when I were a lad....I wish could say the same for my 357 tape measures

Folding rules Tom. Not metre rules.
