Repairing Plaster Before Tiles

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I would say its a good morning's work for a plasterer and they're about £160 per day round here. Add £15 for materials and call it a round £100. No idea about rates in Mansfield, though.

Id knock it off and dry line it, looks like sand lime mortar to me,its junk, especially after 40 or 50 years.
Also if you pva before over skimming din't let it dry,no good at all, skim when pva is tacky.

I would strip that back to the brick work & dryline sheets of plasterboard onto it then you know it should be flat & plumb for tiling.
I've lost count of the jobs I've went to where the peeps have had plastering done & it's all over the place & also cost them a lot more than getting the wall drylined.

The wife now wants that wall painted and the rest tilled on the bath side. LOL

Going to phone for a few quotes to get that wall skimmed.

Hi, there's a big difference from getting a wall skimmed & getting it flat...
I would drop that back to the brick & dryline it mate.
Sounds a lot of hassle but it ain't..
