My new makita grinder 9" seems to be losing power, it came without a plug fitted so i bought an 110v plug from wicks and fitted it, i tryed to cut terrazzo today with this and it could not do it so had to use my old one, the grinders brand new so im guessin its the plug ive fitted and ideas ? the grinder had a blue and brown wire coming from it.

This is the grinder
MAKITA GA9020KD ANGLE GRINDER 110V DISC CUTTER 9" 230MM | eBay UK

This is the plug i bought
110V 16A Socket - Other Accessories - Power Tool Accessories -Tools, Electrical & Plumbing - Wickes

Is the 32 amp not the bigger plug ? i need it to fit my extensions and transformer my transformer only has two small 110v plug spaces.

Can you buy a 32amp plug thats the same size as the 16 amp plug, so it fits into my extensions and transformer ?

no, the 32 amp plug fits a 32amp socket only

will it still cut even though the power drops

It was cutting the terrazzo but it felt like if i pushed down hard the blade would of stopped, i wont be abel to use a 32 amp plug then, ill probably need to send it back

it would be cheaper than buying a 32 amp tranny and leads

I have a 1/2 inch router thats 32 amp and ive fitted a 16 amp plug without any problems other that the motor slows a bit on full load but it still routs ok so I dont worry

I called them up so there coming to pick the grinder up and send it to makita, so should be all sorted in next two weeks, my old one still runs fine. Thanks for everyones help 🙂

Just had a call from makita saying they cant find a problem with the grinder, and it might be the transformer im useing but im useing a 3.3kva transformer so it cant be that, told them it was not strong enough to cut a terrazzo tile but my 7 year old makita could cut them no problem, so waiting on them calling me back, anyone have any ideas what could be causeing the grinder to lose power ?
