Just bought myself a new TX-700-N from Dave at Tradetiler, which has come with size 10 and 18 wheels. I have tried the No.10 on a 300x600 tile, cuts great, but the edge is a bit ragged!

It is me, or the wheel I am using? Never used one of these cutters before!

Cheers

the 10 mm should do it fine, only score once though. On smooth porcelaine you might want to get a 8mm, its narrow width can cut deeper

Use the 18mm one more rivened surfaces

Thanks Dave, have just done one cut, and then split the tile, but if you look along the cut it is a bit ragged (yes it is smooth porcelein).

I have only done testers on some old tiles so far, so now grouted them in so the ragged edge may not show up then, just wasnt sure how good the cut is supposed to be?

If you score once, quickly, you should get a smooth cut. The body of the tiles thickness might look ragged (will be hidden once grouted) but the very top line should be good.

can you take a picture?

Don't apply too much pressure either. In the training centre we found those who managed to score the tile fully with the least pressure had the neatest cut.

On ceramics you'd often not even see the score unless you held it up to the light.

One quick smooth score with enough pressure to simply create a small score that's even and neat should be all you need.

should have got a sigma mate , nice clean cuts:thumbsup:

Just for your info .. the TX700 cuts as clean as any other tile cutter, no matter what the make.. It is a movable breaker, so unlike a fixed breaker it can cope with any hard porcs etc..

So back to the original question about a TX700..

Follow the advice above and you will get years from that cutter...
