You can glue and screw plasterboard to ICF, can you see the plastic nogins on the interior?

I've never tiled on to it but then i've never been asked, do you know which brand of ICF it is?

hi yes you can see where the plastic nogins are , not sure on the make ,could find that out in the morning , the builder said tile str8 on to ,as its like bod-dab , i must say it very strong stuff , but im so not sure about it ,

Who is contracting you to undertake the works? The home owner or the builder?

If it's the builder I kindly ask him to supply you with some data sheets to say what can and can't be done with the surface. He may well be right but i'd personally like to see the system manufacturers recommendations. But even if he is, i'd still have reservations as what happens when the tiles need changing? surely it would destroy the walls on stripping

If it's for the home owner I would suggest to them that you screw plasterboard to the wall, you can fasten these by screwing into the plastic nogins and use standard drywall screws for this. Again highlight the fact the plasterboard can be easily replaced as at later date should they wish to change tiles

thanks for that , its both builder and home owner , i did say about ply - backerboard , but both did say str8 on , think i will get something in writing first before i do , thanks again , was thinking the same ,just needed to hear it from someone else

Are you supplying the addy and grouts? or is the builder supplying it? I would contact the adhesive tech line and state what the substrate is and then the addy tech will tell you if there products are suitable too.

Deffo contact your addy tech line.

You need to know that whatever you are going to use will bond to it.

Ask for the M40 specification sheets TT, the architect should have supplied these to the builder you need them and the builder should have given you these. If they have an M40 the details will be on there. If they have them and havent given them to you, and you use something which isent on the spec, it has legal ramifications for you.

Regards
Pebbs

I thought that Ken. It's nice to have Pebbs on board who has some insight to the Architectural side of things. I hope to see lots more posts from her. 😉
