It's such a shame because you've gone to the effort of coming on here and asking for advise. You would do a better job with a good start point that's really where you went wrong.

For the cost of what, £5.98 for a box of tiles? You could start again and do it justice.

The :dizzy2: was about the lines, arrows and numbers all over them. Or did the councle fix them like that?

£7 per box.

I don't have time. I've been trying to figure it out for weeks. I have a life other than tiling like looking after disabled b/f, shopping, cleaning, organising Christmas etc.

The way I also look at it is a) it's going to be better than the council job (I hope!), b) it's only going to be b/f and me looking at it and c) council are supposed to be replacing bathrooms/kitchens in the near future so they'll probably damage everything I've already done anyway.

ah, found a picture of bumpy wall by sink

After I'd hacked it

What I'd have had to contend with if I didn't hack it away

A few more questions.

Someone mentioned having to do an offcut for the main wall above the sink as my tiles are 25cm and the wall is 32cm.

The wall on the left-hand side though also has a small gap as it is 26.5cm. I'm guessing a sliver of 1.5cm is unacceptable and I wouldn't be able to cut it anyway, so should I just do 2 x 13cm wide tiles for the left wall and 2 x 16cm tiles for the middle wall?

Minnie,

I'd probably do something to "flatten" the wall and avoid a sliver, but I have to admit that I'm struggling to picture your dilema from your photos. I'd need to view the job to be able to provide sensible advice.

My apologies.

dont think youve upset anyone minie, hows the job coming along? any updated pics?

Not really got anywhere as been trying to work out the horizontal surfaces round the bath. Have managed to do this one and it took me hours and hours.

It's the best I could do. All those funny angles just did my brain in

Here's a picture of how it was. NB: All the scribbles wasn't me setting out, it was just rough calculations to see how many square metres of tiles I'd need.

The wall that says 30.5cm on the left is now 26.5cm. My tiles are 25cm, so I'm left with 1.5cm (or a bit less once you take into account grouting).

I could try and fill that corner out so the tiles on the middle wall encroach slightly on to it. I can't think of anything else to do hence nagging you lot.

I love it that you have really given this project a go. Especially "The Making Of" pictures. You'll laugh about this one day, and I'm sure your other half will appreciate your efforts.
Like a fella said it's difficult to see but slivers aren't very good anywhere. And it sounds like your cutter is pretty basic. What I'd do if your tiles are 25cm the space is 26.5 cm, I'd do what you said- cut two tiles 13cm (take into account your spacers if you're using them) , file down your rough edge cut so it's not so harsh. The bigger the cut to accommodate what space you have left is better than slivers. Your eyes wont notice them as much. Good luck mate.

the walls look that bad to be honest Minnie, if you were in the lake district, I'd offer to come round and dot and dab out with plasterboard to give you a flat canvas to work from,:20::20:

They are. The property is over 100 years old so I've no idea how many times the Council have had shoddy jobs done there.

That left wall and middle wall - it's hard to actually tell where they meet. You can tell above the line of tiles, but below that, half the wall blends into one.

The window sill's a mess as well and I think that's where I screwed my measurements up, assuming it was level when it wasn't as it dips on one side. :mad2:

and this was me trying to see if this wall was straight. Picture's the wrong way so you might get a crick in your neck. I was holding up trim to see if it sat flush to the wall.
