Hi, this is my first post on my first ever forum. Been reading comments and already learnt a lot from all your experience.
I work with a couple of other mates doing pretty much anything that comes our way but when tiling is involved it is always left to me. Not the fastest tiler in the south east but i'm very fussy about my work which makes for good tiling jobs, i hope.
Must admit though, having no formal qualifications in tiling, I feel a bit of a fraud compared to some of you guys. That said, our work is all domestic and therefore fairly straight forward. Then again it's good to have as much knowledge as poss.
Speaking of which, I've been asked to tile my girlfriend's mum's conservatory floor. Screed in great condition but is going to have UFH mesh from B&Q laid on top. Tile shop I go to sells Biscem product and recommended their Vitri-rapid adhesive, no additive needed. I'm going to bed the UFH striaght into the adhesive as it is only covering two 1m strips of the 15m2 floor and have never latexed a floor that size, plus i want to get it done over the bank holiday weekend. Tiles are B&Q 450x450 ceramics on going to lay on thick bed, hopefully solid bed, with 10mm half round trowel. Grout will be Biscem flexible grout (can't remember name). Does that all sound ok to you experts? Read a lot about priming screeds but is that really necessary in this case as it is new, dry and in very good condition from what i've seen? This isn't the first floor i've done btw but just thought i'd pass it by you all.
One other thing if I may. Need to invest in a new cutter. My 445mm vitrex, which has served me well and fine for small jobs, is at it's limit with tile sizes ever increasing. Considering again that i don't do tiling every day and when i do it's average size rooms etc, i'm very tempted to go for the husqvarna TC670. I'm used to a single push to score and break action which this has, as opposed to the rubi TS+ range. The TX range is out of my league. Any comments?
Not bad for my first post.
Look forward to hearing back from anyone.

Hi daz Welcome to the forums.

Don't have much experience with under floor heating down here for obvious reasons (To hot anyway)

I would always prime a sceed (Slab) as this will seal in and penertrate allowing good mechanical adhesion of the adhesive it will also coat any residue dust and seal that in as well. If the slab is really smooth almost polished you might have to scabble or at least rough it up some what before you prime.

450x450 I'm thinking these could be porcelain clay tiles probably glazed if so you'll want a good quality cutter. If you like single action you can't go wrong with sigma gear.

I have the Husqvarna TC670 and I think it's a brilliant cutter for the price of it and it goes through porcelain no problem.

Hi, no problem with the Biscem gear, i use it all the time.
As for the cutter i would opt for the Rubi after seeing a Husky machine at a recent show, I wasnt that impressed.
