i do most of mine by hand but always keep my mixer with me because it can get tiring towards the end of the day. I think both adhesive and grout mix smoother by hand, no lumpyness. Anyway whats wrong with you all - IT KEEPS YOU FIT!

do you use marigolds when mixing grout by hand?

lol, I think he means like using a tool of some kind, and not actually with fingers, but a couple do just that.
For me, by hand means I use a wall apaper scraper to mix by hand.

Do you mix by hand or with a whisk / drill attachment?
Other....totally depends on the work..have used cement mixer b4 now.It all depends on the volume...................Gaz

I use a double handle mixer from screwfix for adhesives, mixes a full bag in about 2mins with no lumps, could not imagine mixing a full bag by hand!!**? when I am doing a large natural stone floor I use the same mixer for mixing grout as I can be mixing 20kgs at a time. small jobs I use a normal drill with a small whisk.

Mix adhesive and grout by hand. Keep a mixer with me in case i need it. No problems mixing by hand .

I have mixing paddles but only use them for SLC.Adhesives and grouts are always mixed by hand. And they are never lumpy.
