Metro tiled corners, scribe in and best silicone method?

Morning all,

Just wanted peoples thoughts on finishing metro tiles, specifically in the corners? Even with nice cutting you still get a diamond effect in the corners that in some cases depending on the depth difference of the metro edge can look a bit off. Do you guys scribe in to minimise this effect? also, with the silicone finish, I use a fugi kit and consider myself a quality finisher with it but find it very difficult to use with the metro finish so was wondering what other methods people may use?

Have done plenty of metro's lately and the finish is fine but always looking to improve hence the questions.

Oh another question, when you have white metro's with grey grout, what colour silicone would you use in the corners, colour match or white? cheers

Grouting and siliconing metro tiles -
If grouting tiles using a different colour grout, I use a colour match with tile/trim to give best looking finish (e.g. white tiles with dark grey grout, use white grout between tile and trim).
Experience in corners where colour drift may occur, use same colour silicone as colour of tile (e.g. white silicone with white tile).

I always cut them straight, then silicone the corners in white, even if using grey grout. Unless cream metros of course then cream silicone.

How do you deal with the diamond effect you get though Dave? if you silicone in grey and you follow the tiles with a small silicone bead in same colour, does the silicone joint not look crooked?

Yeah It can look slightly of . Never tried to match the colour of tile. I dont think the metros are massively beveled anymore. What I do try to do I leave the tile shy of other wall by a few mill then run the silicone flush.

I try to wrap it around if the cuts all work out, makes it flow much better although sometimes not possible due to setting out.

I'd assume there are 2 ways to do them.
1. In bricklaying a full brick and a half brick.
2. In wallpapering follow the pattern around ie. into the corner with a half out of the corner with a half.

Done this on Thursday/Friday and managed to wrap it around nicely which I reckon gives it a nicer finish. Just the white silicone in corners to do. The diamond effect you get in corners is annoying but the white silicone IMO does help to hide this.

Yep, I'm the same , do loads of metro white tiles and always light grey grout & I mastic internals and where tiles meet units in a grey mastic to match grout
