There seems to be confusion since Mapei lauched the posters regarding using Mapeker on oveboarded ply, was wondering if anyone can clear this up before someone has comeback using the wrong material on ply, cause I thought Keraquick was for ply and Mapeker was for concrete !!!

TUBS

Hi tubs, i don't care what was said, mapeker for floors(screed) and keraquick for ply(latex included if possible), i have even started using keraquick on all floors !!

Im the same its peace of mind for the sake of a few £'s!!

keraquick every time.......used to be an Adrex man...........

I used to be a bal man.....

Deffo mapei now....and it's not just the price...( that helps) but mapei adhesives are so much smoother to use...IMO..

I'm with Tubs on this one i'm well confused.

overboarded ply = Mapeker or Keraquick

I called Mapei this week and they confirmed Mapeker is fine for overboarded floors, so what is the point of Keraquick?

Perhaps Mapei can shed some light on this?

i'm with Tubs there is confusion and i'd like to know before i make a costly mistake.

The only confusion is, it seems you are trying to save costs by using mapeker...????

Use keraquick like you would have before then there is no risk...

Mapeker might be suitable because it is that modified compared to other rapidsets but c,mon you are the tiler here and use what product is purposely designed for the job..

Yes! mapeker maybe capable of doing it but keraquick will do it better is all i'm saying...

So use the adhesive that deffo works without the risk...

in somple my type terms

they have upgraded mapiker so it can do what kerraquick can but only just

sorry lads but i would never use any water based adhesive directly onto plywood i've seen too many jobs where the tiles have de-bonded,i either use latex plus or cover the floor with ditra matting first, they made these products for a reason and not just to make more money, costs a bit more but i,ve never had to go back to a job to re-stick loose tiles,
toon army,

welcome aboard mate..

Keraquick is a more versatile product than Mapeker.

Keraquick can be used to tile over most surfaces where as the Mapeker has more limitations.

In addition to this the Mapeker cant be modified to s2 classification (unlike the Keraquick when used in conjunction with the latex plus)

On another note, I have noticed that some people are under the impression that when a bag of adhesive say 'polymer modified or highly enhanced' that it is flexible or suitable for use over ply this is not the case. This realy just means that it has enhanced charachteristics. This could be something such as high grab, open time or extended pot life etc. So please bare this in mind when selecting adhesives that you may not be too familar with. With big manufacturers you can alway call the technical helpline who are usualy able to advise or answer questions.

when looking for a flexible adhesive look for signs such as s1 or s2, I know all manufacturers dont label the classifications on the labels. An easier way I guess would be to read the label. lol
hope this helps:thumbsup:
