my rubi trowel is 12mm which is ok i think with 20mm you ll be going through adhesive like mad

I use marshalltown mostly:

I like using this size for most of the standard tiles I get to put in:
16 X 4 (40,64 X 10,16cm) Notched Trowel-Soft Grip Handle; 1/4 X 3/8 X 1/4 (6 X 10 X 6mm) SQ
As most floors have some deviation this puts a sufficient bed under the tiles to level them properly, the 16 inch size helps to cover the floor in combed mud pretty fast.

Agree with LM, for the germans the 12 mm trowel for large size tiles is common too.

i have been making my own 20mm trowels by cutting notches out of large steel floats i also cut out notches of old washboy floats when tiling over underfloor heating cables to avoid nicking the wire
