kitchen price

what do you guys normaly charge for a kitchen? 6 sockets maybe a hood to go around etc Charging about £275 £300

u were quick off the mark to say £48 a sq mtr but not every one works like that i supose u wud of done it for half the money then.

We are not here to pick points out of how others work and charge

The thread starter clearly asks an opinion please give that opinion rather than try to find faults with mine

Yes ,and i done one today(100x100) plus a 4 m2 en-suite and a 6 m2 bathroom tiled grouted and polished,don't do mastic someone else get's paid for that.

Sorry if you feel that way raja,i was not picking fault's with your pricing i just find the price a little over the top that's all .

I'll be honest i come across a lot of so called tiler's who charge the earth for a job that can be done easily in half a day but take's them 2 day's hence the price,now i am not suggesting you are one of these people but you obviously live in a diffrent place than i ,and the price's vary depending on were you are:yes: .

I am a fully trianed tiler with 6 years tiling experiance and a 1 years training at college nvq level 2 and i wud take 2 days to do it 1 day to tile and the other to grout
we all work differently at different speeds.

Out of interest how much wud u of charged? inclusive off all materials

U are an experianced man who has probably seen it all

I have read ur profile and i respect ur views and can c it wud take u half a day but not every one puts them up like they go up in new builds.

I should know i own 4 new builds

I've been tiling 18 year's now and am fully time served (4 years).
When i seen your post i seen the figure's and worked it out to be £48m2 ,which i personally think is massive amount for a splashback(not that your wrong).

I have alway's been of the belief that if your charging a lot you have to stay there and justify your money,i want to go there and do the job and get paid ,for that particular job i would have charged £150 max but i would have been there only four hour's at the very maximum,i do this sort of job all the time i can do one in the morning and one in the afternoon get £300 and be home (or the pub )for 4:30.


I have work constantly ,on site or domestic and in 18 year's i have never had more than a few day's between job's.


Just noticed you mentioned new build's believe me they are not much better than old one's:yes:

A day to fix for me, I love splash-backs, but even after 6 years, I'm still slow. Plus the next morning to grout/Silicon. I'd do it on day rate, totalling £225 labour, plus £35 mats.

no need to say sorry u r older than me and u have been tiling since i was 7

i am only used to small jobs hense the speed issue but mayb years down the line mite get it done in a day.
Also i use tubbed gear 90% of time hense day 2

Mz30 and Raja - I agree with both of you to a point. Some people are just naturally quicker than others on the job and you charge whatever you feel you need to earn in that required time. Im by no means quicker than Mz30 but i would only spend 1 day on the job in question. no need to come back the next day and grout IMO. Ive done hundreds of kitchen splashbacks and not once have i not grouted same day, never had a problem.

Raja,just a quick request,next time you do a splashback or bathroom ,after an hour go back and see if you can move the first tile you fixed.:yes:

When i first went with my dad's friend tiling i was 12 yrs old (summer holiday's and christmas)and at the time they were just coming to the end of fixing in sand and cement(glad that went away).

It took me at least 12 year's of tiling to get up my speed with no mistake's and sub-contracting speed and neatness is of the essence (no point going back to fix something for nothing).

Like i mentioned before i have seen all these guy's come and say they are tiler's only to be found out after a day ,these are not tiler's but chancer's.

One day i'll tell you all about "The Flash" you will die laughing.
