12000 rpm is 12000 rpm no matter how big the blade is

The rpm is the same but the larger the disc the higher the peripheral speed .

A point on the outer perimeter has further to travel to do one turn so it has to move faster

I understand what you’re saying @Localtiler and agree with you.

RPM is RPM but the speed that the actual outer part is moving is faster. The bit that does the cutting is moving faster against the tile than if it were a smaller hole saw.

I agree, ive studied physics ...but if the optimum speed for a holesaw is say 12000rpm its 12000rpm, no use slowing it down cuz the outsides running faster than the centre

I've studied physics also . But like everything else I did at school (room for improvement)
