To remove tiles without breaking the tile?

I'm a plumber (new to the trade) and often I have to remove tiles from boxing or walls to gain access to toilet cisterns etc. If I'm lucky, the builders have tiled a lid and siliconed it together but I'm not always that lucky.

I had to get to a concealed cistern the other day and couldn't save 1 single tile on plywood boxing :yikes:

Any help/suggestions would be grand!
