homelux matting

i am tiling a walk in shower 1450 x 850, on new skimmed ordinary p/bd.i went to topps to ask for a tanking kit and they recommended homelux matting. i can get two runs horizontally across the two walls where water splashes and the third wall where i walk in ,just tile the wall w/o matting.
is this practical or do you recommend a different method. also the guy in topps said overlap the matting by 5mm and don,t bother with joint tape. this does not sound like good advice as i would have a lump to tile over.
also what adhesive should i use for the matting.

The membrane needs to over lapped by 50mm not 5mm as recommmended...

what size tiles are you using and what type please...then we can advise more.?

Just to expand on Dave comment - The homelux membrane should be butt jointed and overlapped by 100mm wide jointing tape ( ie 50mm each side overlap). If your going to the expense of tanking do the job as they request or you will have no come back when it leaks!

John is right...but once you get used to a system then the tapes do not have to used as you can simlply cut strips from the membrane or over lap by 50mm each side but for new comers then defo use the tapes...

the tiles are ceramic (rocersa atlantis) and they are 400 x 250 with a 50 x 250 border tile where they meet

I find the Homelux mats quite thick. Wetdecs supplies stuff that is thinner (Durabase WP) and gives less problems for lippage IMO.

I know wetdecs has excellent prices, do you know how much the durabase costs pe rm2 from wetdecs?

You need to PM him or ring him Gary for him to give the best prices...his price on his website is retail, we get GOOD discounts....

guys ta for the advice and opinions. i should have mentioned that i will use BAL white star for the tiles with admix gt1 in the grout
