just joined this site after axcidently finding it.. Been working with a tiler for about 7 months starting to do more than just cutting and grouting... Only question atm is how important is a nvq? Do I need it or does experience speak for itself? Thanks in advance david

In my opinion a bit of both. Pay the money and you can be a qualified tiler in several weeks, doesn't mean you can tile, but does show you have the basic ability and knowledge on how to tile correctly. Personally you also have to be able to tile and this can only done with experience.

A short course will NOT qualify youmas a tiler , it will give you a competence certificate but deffo not an NVQ..

Back to,your question , if you do site work , then for your cscs card you might probs require min NVQ2.. If not then its not required otherwise as of yet..

Welcome to the forum David. 🙂

I know loads of good tilers with not even a NVQ. And I know loads of tilers with NVQ's that need more experience.

Practice makes perfect. 🙂
