Have been asked to price a splashback of 8 meters of marble tiles, no one else in my area doesn't seem to want to touch it because 4 other tilers have said they don't have the equipment for it thou I'm going to hire what's needed and have a go at it bul needt want your thoughts on what I'l need and is cutting marble straight forward with the right tools. I'm sitting scratching my head how long it would take me to do it. Might just price it at day rate and see how I get in.

Cuts into corners I'd do with my grinder as they would be siliconed, when doing round the window I'd use my wet cutter to give the best possible finish, all cuts would be seen as I like many others don't use trims with stone. Since I got my polisher and profiling bits 12 months ago I now offer the customer the option of half bull nosing the edges. Most don't want to pay for the extra time but those that do are always blown away how good it looks.

This is small Ensuite tiled in 600x300 Crema Marfil.
There are 64 pieces in total and 60 yes 60 were cuts. Set out to clients requirements.
ALL cut with Rubi TC180 and wet feed. It even managed the cut top right of alcove with two downlighters.
I might add all cuts were done 7 flights of stairs down in basement lightwell, which had to be sheeted up the walls and windows to 2.5m and stone floor covered also. This had to be set up and broken down everyday, as if I hadn't been there!
Gruelling!

I might add that these were supplied by the client. It was a mish mash of tiles from three different sources, and thicknesses from 12-15mm
i was instructed to just mix them up a little and fix them. They were happy with variation in colour and just wanted it done. Who are we to argue!

What about cutting sqs out for sockets, switches. Would you use a grinder?

How would you fix translucent marble?

what adhesive for resin backed marble?

bullnosing and hand polishing external edges .

the list goes on ...

How would you do it

Its a splashback so I was thinking of adding a bead/corner piece instead of bullnosing. Cut with grinder and ask in tile store what Addy is best for it.

Back-butter the marble tiles as well as spreading adhesive on the wall. Use a flexible white adhesive if the marble is translucent. If you're not bullnosing, perhaps use a wide trim.
The following shows you some threads on the forum related to marble: https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sour...8#q=site:tilersforums.com+adhesive+for+marble

Thank you Dan. Really appreciate you taking time to point out a few things.
As for back buttering, I back butter every tile I lay thou with marble, with I trowel with the notched side or just the flat like I do with other tiles.
