A customer currently has a lawned garden, but would like part of this area to be tiled... whats the best adhesive to use on grass ? just kidding i know i need to take up the area of grass and soil underneath but how far down do i need to dig and is it cement i would fill the hole with ?? any help with this would be great.

you will need to put in a raft foundation so the tiled area won't sink or move or float down the garden:smilewinkgrin:,then i would tile with a good flexi adhesive and grout that is suitable for external use:thumbsup:

you will need to dig down about 600mm fill with aggregate and whack down to about 150mm below the level you want to tile,on top of the aggregate build a wooden box that will hold the foundation,fill with 150mm of concrete and when dry polish of:thumbsup:

600mm :yikes::yikes::yikes:
Thats a huge hole you could park a small country on a base that thick!

Personally id go for a hardcore base 150mm of MOT of type 1 whacked with a whacker plate. Then lay your contrete/scred base onto that. Thats how i have always prepped a base for slabs. 200mm subbase if its for vehicles

WHY dont you tile on cement board Marmox then if they want to change it in the future it will break down easy!!:thumbsup:
