never done natural stone befor when you do them do you seal them 1st or bed them 1st then seal them ?

LTP sealers are the dogs !!!!

Be careful when sealing, do not allow excess sealer to run down edges of tiles into grout lines. Some sealers can hinder the adhesion of the grout.

Usually - radiator type roller and tray - be sparing with sealer - goes a long way !!!
Phone Specialist Tiling Products in Harrogate - they will deliver LTP sealers usually next day. These are better than HG & Lithofin sealers.

you can brush it on. depends on how much stone you have to seal. paint roler is just as good. sorry should have said to clean at each stage. thought that was common sense. I put all stone through wet cutter and mark with pencil. Most pens just get absorbed into stone. Most times i use a white adhesive.

It is good practice to keep your tiles clean as you go - took this for granted. Still need a final clean prior to sealing.
Roller usually better than brush ( except for slate )
Wet cutter or angle grinder for naturals.
Would never use pen on tiles.
White adhesive only necessary where tiles are transclucent.

what if you get some adhesive on the tile. let's say from your fingers is that tile no good or can you just rub it off?

Clean it off straight away ( standard practice ) - no probs.

Limestone and sandstone can sometimes be a problem - I would usually clean and treat these once prior to fixing.

I never did a natural stone course - just took the plunge - asked advice about correct adhesives & sealers. No looking back now - good money as well 🙂

one last tip do not let excess sealer dry on the stone surface !

Make sure the tiles are bone dry before applying sealers, Tip for pencil lines washing off natural stone cuts in your wet saw, put a 10mm wheel in your dry cutter and scribe the line you have marked with your pencil, just follow that groove man

good tip works very well with black slate i score with a no more ply scorer same job but a but quicker

If you let the sealer dry in a small puddle it will dry like a glass lense, make sure the sealer is applied evenly across the surface with a roller, you can seal before you lay them and allow to dry at first if you think you are going to be a little messy with adhesive spills
