On my way to measure a job last night when the wife phones me crying, what's up I ask her in a panic she'd been round the shop to get something and her card was rejected so she comes home and checks her account and it turns out my 10 year old son has run up a bill on a free app for ......... Wait for it £480 🙁 the game that he's been on (clash of clans ) was free and is addictive and tells you your under attack improve your defence, you can do this by buying gems , jewels ect, so he did lots of. Obviously he's heard his mum giving me the password a couple of days ago while getting him a different free game, I feel like killing him and the wife is in bit cos it was all the money she had saved up for Xmas

Ye I've took it off him now mate, it actually sent me misses over her overdraft and the bank still kept accepting it which I will be taking up with them if I can't get anything back off apple. The dust has settled a bit and I only want to slap him now instead killing him every time I see him 🙂

If you have not authorised it and it's on your credit card they have taken the money under fraudulent conditions. I beleive this is covered under your section 73 consumer credit protection. If apple won't cough up then you should lodge a complaint with your credit card company.
I think by actually putting your bank details in when setting up an iPhone which you have to do and this is my wife's old phone your giving them permission to take money if you've bought something or in my case f**king gems to protect a base on a stupid game, but I appreciate any help or any different angles or avenues I can go down when I get I reply off apple

Oh bu##er. If it's visa debit you might get somewhere. I had a similar incident with my son a few years back and visa actually sorted it for me. They did not pay up themselves but did get my money back for me. Mine was £400 ish as well.... They used the defence that it was a fraudulent transaction as I had not requested the services ( in my case it was for sports results services that my son had signed up for and that sent him a text every hour to update him on football results - even when there were no results to report but they charged 60p per text sent. That was when they told me if it was a credit card it would have been easier to sort.
Definitely worth a call IMO

My son done his mum for £96 not long ago through a free game, exact same circumstances, tried to claim back the money but got nowhere, that was on a visa debit card.
Safe to say password changed & he doesn't know it..

Result, that's good customer service. Bet apple will be screwing the app company now.
Ye I didn't think we'd get it back, my wife emailed them and they asked for purchase history which she couldn't get off the phone so she went to the apple shop and gave a big sob story and one of the reps put her on the phone to someone in USA who looked at the email again then talked to his boss, I think the key which she kept telling them was that we didn't tell him the password he overheard it .....phew

What pocket money it's been well stopped that, can't tell him we've had a refund or he'd be at it all the time

Ye think so mate, but i also found out there is a option to you can take to turn off in-app purchases which I'd never heard of which are probably put in place for things like this but no one knows about it
